Batack

The project aimed to promote access to preschool education in the rural village of Batack, in western Cameroon.

The intervention involved the construction from scratch of a nursery school, comprising two single-storey buildings, designed to accommodate children from the local community.

The construction of the school was made possible by the contribution of the 8×1000 of the Waldensian Church, the support of COVIDEBA and the participation of the local population.

In the rural village of Batack, in western Cameroon, Movimento Sviluppo e Pace accompanied a community project for the construction of a new nursery school.

The school was built from scratch with the contribution of the 8×1000 of the Waldensian Church, the local contribution of COVIDEBA — Comité Villageois de Développement de Batack — and the participation of the local population.

The intervention led to the construction of two single-storey buildings, designed to provide the community with a safe, adequate and accessible place for the education of preschool children.

The school was opened and inaugurated in the concluded school year and currently hosts 20 children, with a maximum planned capacity of 50 places.

The structure was built in compliance with UNESCO standards and is considered a significant model for the territory. In April 2022, an evaluation mission was carried out by MSP ETS Vice President Pierre Monkam, accompanied by humanitarian reporter Dan Romeo.
